What does a line filter do?
Filters 240V AC mains, by eliminating EMI noise usually generated by the power cord, or noise present on themains before it is feed into power supply of the equipment. (It will not suppress high voltage spikes or lightning or regulate the voltage.)
What is in a typical line filter ?
They contain a Common /Differential mode choke, smoothing capacitors X and Y and can have line resistor.
