The WS series established for its clear audio quality andsuperb operability has been improved.
The new WS-853 features a new Intelligent Auto Mode, which is perfect for when there is a distance between the speakers and recorder, such as in large meeting rooms.
The recorder optimises the recording level regardless of whether the audio source is near or far, making it possible to record audio that is easy to listen to.
Simple Mode has been added to the menu for easy, intuitive controls that are perfect for beginners.
The new WS series recorders can be used in a wide range of situations, from students to business users.
With the ease of use found in all WS series recorders, this model achieves a highly realistic stereo feeling thanksto the two low noise, high sensitivity microphones.
The new Intelligent Auto Mode provides automatic sensitivity adjustment, and a Low-cut filter removes unnecessary noise from your recordings.
Two low-noise directional microphones positioned at a 90° layout enable you to create high quality recordings with a realistic stereo feeling.
This feature ensures that you capture the sense of direction and distance of the speakers in the recording which is useful for meetings, lectures or training presentations.
The new Intelligent Auto Mode function automatically adjusts the microphone sensitivity according to the input level.
For example, when you record the voice of a person far away in a large meeting room, the input level tends to be lower. In this case, the recorder automatically raises the sensitivity of the microphone making them easier to hear.
Alternatively, when you record in a smaller meeting room with only a few people, the sensitivity is automatically lowered, so that the voice of the speakers close by do not sound too loud.
In this way, the function automatically keeps track of the input level and simultaneously adjusts the recording level so that it always records in the best quality.
This ensures that the recording remains consistent by nothaving a speaker’s voice too quiet or too loud.
To set this function, simply select "Auto" as the recording level from the menu.
During recording, the low-cut filter is used to cut the sound at frequencies of 300 Hz and lower during the recording process.
Typical examples of these lower frequencies include air conditioner noise, projector fan noise, and even wind noise while outside.
By cutting the lower frequency during recording your audio is natural sounding and free of background noise and distortion during playback.
When voices are recorded at different volume levels due to the distance and physical relationship to the recorder, you can use the Voice Balancer to automatically make smallervoices louder, and ensure that louder voices stay below a given level, providing playback where everyone can be heard clearly.
This comes in handy when recording sound sources from multiple positions, such as in a large meeting or conference.
Since the voice filter operates simultaneously, the prominent noise produced when amplifying small sounds is also reduced.
By eliminating the lower and higher frequencies during playback, recorded voice is even further enhanced.
This enables much clearer playback than the functions offered by our competitors.
Simple Mode is perfect for beginners, as it shows only the necessary information in a large font and only key functions in the menu.
The first time the recorder is activated, users are askedto choose from either Normal Mode or Simple Mode, so initialset up is easy.
Once you become accustomed to using the recorder, you canswitch to normal mode should you desire more detailed information and settings.
The built-in USB connector can be easily deployed and stored using the slide lever.
With this feature, you can connect directly to a computerwithout using a cable or a software.
Not only can you save and share your recordings, the WS-853 can also be recharged via USB without having to remove the battery, and the recorder can also be used as a USB memory device.
By simply selecting a scene from the menu, you can set optimum recording settings for your environment.
'Telephone Recording' and 'Duplication' have been added as options that are available when the recorder is used in combination with accessories.
It is now possible to easily record telephone conversations or duplicate recordings from cassette tapes.
By connecting the optionally available TP8 telephone pickup and selecting Telephone Recording from the options, you can record conversations from your telephone.
This scene enables you to easily and conveniently digitise and save sound sources from vinyl records and analogue cassette tapes.
Auto divide mode will divide files into individual songs.
In addition, timer mode will stop recording automaticallyif you set a time that matches the duration of the sound source.
Recordings of long meetings with multiple topics or audiofiles that are too big to send via email can be divided on the recorder without having to use a computer.
This makes it easier to manage files according to the content, or divide files into a smaller size to send via email.
The recorder is equipped with a convenient stand on the rear of the body.
This feature reduces unwanted noise that can be picked upfrom the surface when the recorder is placed directly on a table top, and can be folded neatly into the body when not in use.
The recorder includes a micro SD card slot that is compatible with Micro SD cards up to 32 GB.
You can select whether to use the built-in memory or a micro SD card from the menu.
The recorder is equipped with a dedicated sliding cover linked with the USB connector that protects the connector from dust.
By developing low power consumption circuits, battery life of the recorder has been significantly increased.
Users can rely on the recorder even when using it for long periods of time.
The supplied AAA battery is rechargeable and can be charged via USB without being removed from the recorder, making it very convenient for everyday use.
The recorder can also run on general purpose AAA batteries, so you never have to worry about running out of power when out and about.
*Maximum recording time: Approx. 110 hrs. (when using alkaline batteries)
