Q. Can CCTV cameras operate over the full 100m length of the CCTV cable?
Yes. Picture remains excellent and there are no issueswith power.
Method:
We tested a Doss IN50PRO connected to a Doss 12VDC/500mA powersupply over the full 100m length.
We measured voltage input at 12.18V and output voltage at 10.38V.
Current draw was 260mA and resistance was 7 Ohms.
Can I run a single 250m camera run using the whole roll?
Yes. Although the current draw of a camera will affect the outcome, our tests* indicate that there should not be anissue. As a further assurance, both ends of the cable roll are readily accessible, so as with all jobs, test it before installing it within walls or conduit.
* Test 1 was with a Dome30 CCTV camera and 12VDC. By the 250m cable run, the voltage dropped to 9.33VDC (tested by a Fluke 87-V DMM). The Dome30 operated perfectly. In test2 we dropped the voltage from the power supply (model SPS9602G) until signal was lost. At an input voltage of 10.4VDC, the camera received 6.59VDC. Any lower and signal was lost. At second test indicates that there is a fair tolerance for lower performing power supplies or cameras will higher current draw.
